Registered Therapeutic Counsellor

I describe myself as a transformational therapist, not because it is trendy but, because my approach is centred on transformation. My training was founded in experiential therapy, which effectively treats trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse, neglect, addictions, etc. Each of us has an innate drive to find healing, to be better than “fine”. We have all experienced trauma in one form or another and have parts of ourselves that we have cut off, disowned, or devalued. In therapy, we work together to construct a new experience, allowing you to reclaim who you truly are.

We can’t go back and change what happened to us, but we can transform how we feel about it.

True healing is when you look at your past with mercy instead of loathing.

If counselling hasn’t worked for you in the past, perhaps it’s time you experienced something different.

Jayne offers more than a decade of experience working with children and adolescents. She draws from several different approaches to fit her client’s needs. These approaches include mindfulness and grounding techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and cognitive behavioural therapy. Her therapeutic perspective is grounded in a person-centred, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to care. She believes every emotion and behaviour serves a purpose for that individual.

In addition to the abovementioned approaches, she utilizes play, creativity, and art in session. These techniques help to create a safe space for her clients to explore their thoughts and feelings and create a safe, judgment-free space for clients to begin their therapeutic journey.

When working with young children, she incorporates the parent and/or caregiver in sessions to strengthen the child-parent/caregiver connection and offer strategies to utilize at home.

My work experience has been predominantly working with those on the neurodiversity spectrum (Autism and/or ADHD/ADD), providing specialized and specific therapeutic approaches for those on the spectrum who are experiencing stress, grief, trauma, sensory dysregulation, anxiety, and/or depression. In the past, I have provided professional training resources and workshops for those who want to learn more about neurodiversity. Information is key. My experience includes working collaboratively with schools to provide support, training, and strategies in an educational setting. I am here if you need my support or expertise, as I have many resources. I like to gather as much information as possible so I can utilize the best, most up-to-date tools to present my clients with well-informed options. Together, my clients and I work to discover their individual therapy goals and needs as we move toward finding life balance.

My approach is compassionate and warm (and pretty chill). I like to give people space to talk and the choice to try out some options that work. Once they are ready for more, I give them space to be accountable and to ask for what they need.
